Motorola launches trial LTE network in UK
03 февраля 2009 |
Motorola on Monday launched a trial LTE network and testing lab in Swindon, in the U.K.
The U.S. vendor marked the inauguration of its trial LTE infrastructure in the 2.6 GHz band with a live, standards-compliant LTE call using a prototype device. It said the call included the streaming of high-speed data services.
Motorola's facilities will enable mobile operators to carry out field trials of LTE technology and equipment, the vendor said in a statement.
Moto added that it is able to host the core elements of the LTE network for operators requiring a hosted LTE trial in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
"With our latest trial network we look forward to working closely with our customers in EMEA as they transition to LTE during 2009 and beyond," said Joe Cozzolino, SVP and general manager for EMEA & Asia Pacific, at Motorola's Home & Networks Mobility business.
The vendor reiterated that it will release its first commercial LTE solutions later this year, including products that will operate in the 700 MHz and 2.6 GHz spectrum bands.
It added that it is working on LTE with operators in Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific.
