France Telecom buys 100% of UK digital ad network

31 августа 2009

France Telecom Friday said it has bought 100% of Unanimis, the U.K.'s largest exclusive digital advertising network, as the French telecoms giant aims to help boost revenue by tapping the fast-growing digital and mobile advertising sector.

"Our combined strengths will help us to achieve the group's overall ambition to drive revenue from 9% to 20% in new growth areas, of which advertising is a key strand," Paul Francois Fournier, executive vice president of France Telecom Advertising, said in a statement.

The company didn't provide financial details of the deal.

Advertisers, buyers and media agencies will be able to reach over 71.5% of the U.K.'s online population and over 66% of the online population across the U.K., France, Spain and Poland through the combination of Unanimis' advertising network and Orange's mobile and web assets, the group said.

Unanimis has exclusive online advertising relationships with key Web site brands such as the AA, Ticketmaster, ASOS, Gumtree and Shopping.com, France Telecom added.

Online advertising is the fastest growing advertising segment in U.K. and is expected to account for 27% of total advertising spend in the U.K. in 2011, up from 19% in 2007, France Telecom said.

Unanimis will continue to operate under its brand name and will become part of France Telecom's advertising network.
