Yankee Group Kicks Off 4G World

16 сентября 2009

Yankee Group kicked off 4G World in Chicago today, with Phil Marshall, senior research fellow of Yankee Group, and Berge Ayvazian, Yankee Group's conference co-chair, giving the opening keynote.

Marshall and Ayvazian focused primarily on what the future holds for 4G networks, presenting some interesting projections for growth of LTE and WiMAX. By 2015, Yankee Group predicts nearly 350 million LTE subscribers will exist worldwide.

The pair outlined key concerns for providers as they evolve their networks. Marshall said that next-generation networks will depend on better data management strategies, including such things as making it easier to create smaller cell sites, using Wi-Fi offload, and the use of pico cells for backhaul.

4G World runs today through Friday, with keynotes from industry executives and panel discussions on a variety of topics concerning the rollout, implementation and management of next-generation networks like LTE and WiMAX.
