Telenor to restructure Norwegian business

Telenor Monday said it is restructuring its Norwegian operation. A Norwegian unit, Telenor Norge, is established as part of Telenor Nordic.

This new unit is headed by Ragnar Kaarhus, who today is the assisting head of the Nordic operations. The restructuring also brings about some changes in the top management of the Norwegian operation.

"The reason for establishing national organizations in Telenor's Nordic operations, is to create a balance between local market force and scale advantages across the Nordic countries. This will enable us to better meet customer demands," said Morten Karlsen Soerby, Executive Vice President and head of Telenor Nordic.

"As before, we are going to have a close cooperation across the three Nordic countries on operation, product development, and strategic projects. However, it is imperative that we manage to move faster, become more market orientated and work more efficiently. I am convinced that establishing Telenor Norway will be perceived as an improvement for our customers as well as our organization." Karlsen Soerby has great expectations for the new organization, and said they will contribute to an even more customer focussed Telenor. The changes will result in a Telenor that is, even more than before, able to meet customer demands and market development.

In connection with the restructuring, Berit Kjoell (Consumer) and Anders Hauglie-Hanssen (Mobile), have decided to leave Telenor.

Together with Ragnar Kaarhus the Norwegian management team consist of: Svein Henning Kirkeng (Consumers), Rolv-Erik Spilling (Business customers), Berit Svendsen (Product, Platform and IS), Ingrid Riddervold Lorange (Operations), Bjoern Ivar Moen (Distribution), Harald Krohg (Wholesale), Katarina Norderud (Finance), Haakon Saether (HR), and Paal Kvalheim (Communications).
