VocalTec Bags $1 Million Order from Russian Operator for VoIP

Herzliya, Israel-based provider of carrier-class multimedia and voice-over-IP solutions, VocalTec Communications Ltd. announced that its large-scale Class-5 solution has been chosen by Russia’s leading Tier-1 operator as its core platform for the delivery of Voice over IP subscriber services.
For the initial order, VocalTec will deliver Essentra BAX Large-Scale Class-5 solution, which will support over 100,000 subscribers. In case of an expansion the system has the capacity to service a much larger user base.
The Russian operator will benefit from an extensive set of applications included in the deployment. It will also be in a position to seamlessly migrate its network to an all IP infrastructure and provide his end-users with the latest in IP telephony services.
"With our solution, this operator can now ensure advanced subscriber services and future-proof growth capabilities,” Ido Gur, president and CEO of VocalTec Communications, said. “This transaction reflects our ongoing penetration to the top-tier service provider community in Russia and reinforces our position as a global provider of VoIP and Convergence solutions. VocalTec provides carrier-class multimedia and voice-over-IP solutions to communication service providers. It specializes in trunking, peering and residential/enterprise VoIP application solutions that enable flexible deployment of next-generation networks. The company has collaborated with leading system integrators and equipment manufacturers to cater to the needs of an installed base of scores of leading carriers including Deutsche Telekom and Telecom Italia San Marino.
In other news, TMCnet reported that Far East Telecom has chosen VocalTec as the provider for transition to a core Class-5 and Class-4 VoIP network.
