China Mobile nets another 15 million subs
China Mobile announced that Q1 net profits rose 22 percent year-on-year as its subscriber base ballooned by an additional 15 million users. Net profit for the quarter, which ended March 31, was $2.28 billion. Revenue for the three month period increased to $10.07 billion. What's more, the carrier added a whopping 14.89 million subscribers in Q1, up from 2006 Q4's 14.08 million users added. In the month of March alone China Mobile added 5.12 million subscribers, and it ended the quarter with a total of 316.12 million. ARPU in the quarter, however, fell to 85 yuan, down from 93 yuan in the same period last year.
