Innovator wins award for exceptional contribution to LTE

07 июня 2010

Mr. Antti Toskala of Nokia Siemens Networks has been recognized as an outstanding driving force to make LTE a commercial reality.  At the 2010 LTE Awards ceremony in Amsterdam, Toskala was honoured with the ‘Award for individual contribution to LTE development’.

The award was presented May 18, 2010, during the LTE World Summit 2010. Toskala leads Nokia Siemens Networks’ standardization team and has made major contributions to the development of the 3GPP LTE standardization process. He has also been highly active in spreading LTE expertise both within Nokia Siemens Networks and throughout the industry.

“This is a huge honor for me,” said Toskala. “It has been a privilege to work on leading mobile communications technology, especially in an organization like Nokia Siemens Networks that is totally committed to encouraging knowledge-sharing to foster a global ecosystem that benefits our customers and the society at large. I also thank my colleagues in the standardization and research teams for their commitment and support over the years.”

Toskala has been involved in 3GPP standardization development for LTE since its inception, and also actively contributed to the LTE multiple access selection in 2005. He also regularly lectures on LTE at conferences and technology training events, and open courses in cooperation with educational institutions such as the University of Oxford.

Toskala and his Nokia Siemens Networks’ colleague Harri Holma co-authored and edited the book ‘LTE for UMTS’ in spring 2009, which has been widely recognized for its in-depth examination on the expected performance of LTE, providing realistic market expectations to back-up operators’ investment plans.
