Ethnic Broadcasting Expands in U.S.
|17 апреля 2007|
“Popularity for ethnic broadcasting is growing rapidly to deliver the comforts of native broadcast programming from across the globe to ethnic audiences here in the U.S.,” said Emrah Ozkan, president and CEO for Home2US. “With the addition of ETN to our program offerings, Home2US brings the more than 300,000 Ethiopian families now living in the U.S. a little closer to home with native-language news and entertainment.”
“ETN is the first around the clock Ethiopian language channel to broadcast in the U.S. and is dedicated to promoting and preserving Ethiopia’s diverse cultural and historical heritage,” said Mulugeta Lule, CEO of ETN. “ETN hopes to bring Ethiopia closer to ex-patriots living in the U.S. and to help them keep their proud heritage alive."
In addition to ETN, Home2US selected Irdeto to secure its broadcast of Planeta TV, the largest Bulgarian television channel, and EURO-World’s Croatian channels.
“Subscription-based satellite broadcasting ushers in new opportunities for operators with specialized programming to offer, especially as ethnic broadcasting grows,” said Doug Lowther, vice president of sales and marketing for Irdeto. “Irdeto is a worldwide leader in securing ethnic and other niche broadcasts to people around the globe.”
As a standards-based system, the Irdeto Digital TV content security solution is compatible with a wide range of set top boxes (STBs), compression equipment and subscriber management systems to deliver architecture flexibility for Home2US and its customers. The Irdeto Digital TV system delivers robust scalability through an array of optional modules that enable operators to start with a basic package, adding modules to grow their business as needed.
