Ericsson, Nokia-Siemens have 70% of GSM market
According to a report from the Dell'Oro Group, the GSM-based wireless infrastructure market grew 17 percent during the fourth quarter of 2006. Dell'Oro says GSM remains an integral market for vendors, especially since the transition from GSM to W-CDMA has been slow. Two vendors have dominated 70 percent of the GSM networking market: Ericsson and Nokia. Ericsson's share of the market exceeds 40 percent and Nokia-Siemens combined accounted for more than 30 percent, the report concluded.
