Alcatel-Lucent makes 12% of its job cuts in France

26 марта 2007
Alcatel-Lucent will cut 1468 jobs in France over the next two years as part of its plan to eliminate 12,500 workers worldwide.

France is home to about 15% of Alcatel-Lucent’s global workforce. And the job cuts planned there following recent protests from labor unions, represent 12% of the job cuts the company will make worldwide.

It’s not yet known how many of the company’s planned job cuts will take place in North America, where about 29% of the company’s workforce resides. If Alcatel-Lucent were to administer the workforce reduction proportionally by geography (with 29% of the cuts going to North America), it would seek to eliminate 3625 jobs in North America.

According to Alcatel-Lucent, some U.S. employees were told last month that their jobs would be eliminated.

Thirty-six percent of the company’s 2006 revenue came from North America, and 26% came from Western Europe.
