Middleware 'Highway' Runs Across Latin America

22 марта 2007
News Corp. subsidiary NDS Group - supplier of end-to-end digital technology to pay-TV operators - will be deploying middleware on more than 800,000 set-top boxes in Latin America. Good news for the satellite crowd because the first release of the company's MediaHighway technology throughout the region will be on DIRECTV Latin America set-tops - including the LR15 DVR.

NDS' MediaHighway is currently deployed on more than 41 million set-top boxes worldwide and now is being downloaded to all DIRECTV Latin America L10 and L11 boxes as well as the LR15 DVR. With the deployment the company will be providing what it believes to be a much-needed upgrade to subscribers' current interface.

According to NDS, the download of MediaHighway will allow viewers to use an advanced program guide to see a variety of on-screen choices. The middleware also enables DIRECTV Latin America to offer other features to including interactive TV applications and interactive games.

This is the first release of the NDS MediaHighway middleware on DIRECTV Latin America set-top boxes. The download standardizes the user interface with that of the new DVR which has recently been rolled out across the region.
