16 марта 2007
Global sales of mobile phones reached $115.5 billion in 2006, and WiFi phone sales topped $535 million, an increase of 13 percent and 327 percent, respectively, from 2005. Infonetics Research says that both trends will only intensify in 2007 as prices continue to drop.

2G/2.5G GSM handsets made up 49 percent of global mobile phone revenue in 2006. The remainder was made up of 2G CDMA, W-CDMA and CDMA2000 handset sales.

World-wide mobile handset shipments increased 27 percent between 2005 and 2006, and single- and dual-mode WiFi handsets together jumped a whopping 489 percent. Infonetics says that between 2007 and 2010, shipments for mobile handsets will increase 26 percent. The research group said that shipments of WiFi handsets will increase nearly 1,300 percent by 2010.

The fastest growing sector in the market is the dual-mode WiFi/cellular VoIP phone. Infonetics predicts a five-year CAGR of 198 percent between 2006 and 2010.
