FCC: Mobile data services count as "broadband"

14 марта 2007
Techdirt makes an interesting point about the GAO slapping the FCC's wrist yet again for reportedly "gouging" the broadband penetration figure for the U.S. by including mobile data services. The FCC also assumes that if one user has DSL in a zipcode then others in that zipcode do too. Techdirt contends that mobile data services are not tantamount to DSL since they usually provide less bandwidth. What's more, many of the larger carriers have made it clear they don't want mobile broadband to be used as a DSL replacement, i.e. no streaming video. Remember, "unlimited" data doesn't really mean unlimited
