China allowed to invest in Taiwan

For years, Taiwan has invested billions of dollars in China. And for years, China could not invest in Taiwan. Now, Taiwan will allow investments from China, including the island's prized chip and LCD sectors, according to Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs.  

According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, China will be allowed to invest in the following sectors in Taiwan: integrated circuit manufacturing, semiconductor packaging, IC testing, liquid crystal displays, metal cutting machine tools, semiconductor manufacturing machinery, among other areas.

There are some restrictions. ''Shareholding ratio should not exceed 10 percent,'' according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs. ''Land and capital must be below 50 percent of the shareholding ratio.''
