Gartner blasts ultra-mobile PC concept
Prominent research firm Gartner Group poured cold water on the idea that consumers will be attracted to ultra-mobile personal computers like Microsoft's Origami. The research firm says these types of devices will fail because consumers won't want to shell out the high prices ($800 to $1000) for devices that are too far ahead of their time and lack key content such as TiVo to Go or streaming video. "We question why this was pushed so quickly to market," said
Leslie Fiering, a research vice president at Gartner. "The concept is ahead of the silicon. That's the bottom line."
