Kaspersky Lab said: a new cross-platform virus that can infect both Linux and Windows
Russian AV firm Kaspersky Lab said it has discovered a new cross-platform virus that
can infect both Linux and Windows systems. The firm said it has named the Linux version Virus. Linux-BI-A and the Windows version Virus.Win32-BI-A. The virus is relatively simple in that it only infects files in the current directory. But it is significant because it is capable of infecting the different file formats used by Linux and Windows. However, as with other proof-of-concept viruses, its quite possible that this one will be used as a base for more dangerous malware that can infect both platforms.
