Study: Britons confused by IPTV
While the U.K. claims 9.8 million households have broadband services, a recent study from uSwitch indicates that four out of 10 Britons don't know what the term "IPTV" means. I'm always baffled by the spin in these article and press releases: That means 6 out of 10 Britons can accurately define "IPTV." One third of Britons were unaware of what "VoIP" meant, with some guessing it was a device to digitally alter one's voice. So almost as many Britons are aware of IPTV as those aware of VoIP, I think that's a true testament to marketing efforts from the service providers. I'd like to see a similar study conducted in the States.
