Cisco to spend $31M on Orative

10 января 2007
According to reports circling the Internet, Cisco is expected to announce its plans to spend $31 million on a small start-up called Orative, which should help the larger company extend its Unified Communications software to mobile devices. Cisco's software currently only allows laptop or IP phone users to see whether a colleague is available to chat, but Cisco says the mobile component is important as the enterprise becomes increasingly wireless. Cisco exec Barry O'Sullivan says "28 percent of workers are mobile today." Cisco has already struck mobile deals for the software with some handset makers, including Nokia.
