News Briefs: Iridium Adopts 9601 Device

COMMERCIAL -- Iridium Satellite announced its support and activation of about 200 of its 9601 Short Burst Data (SBD) devices through the company's contract with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). Applications for the device include asset tracking, integration with radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, Blue Force tracking for real-time awareness, remote sensing, and remote command and control.

SATELLITE RADIO -- XM Satellite Radio said it has extended its relationship with American Honda Motors under a new 10-year agreement through 2016. XM is the exclusive satellite radio partner for the company - which has produced more than 1.5 million cars with XM factory-installed to date.

MISCELLANY -- As sad as it may be to some, the TV advertisements that run during the Super Bowl have become as big of an event as the actual game itself. Just in case the party's too loud or half time is the only opportunity you have to grab some grub - and you happen to miss the commercials - FOX Sports will be streaming all the ads that aired during the game.
