Golden Telecom becomes General Partner of Brazilian Football School in Russia

In October, 2005 the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the President of Brazil Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva agreed to establish the Langsdorf Humanitarian Projects’ Fund. The purpose of the Fund is to strengthen the cooperation between both countries. Boris Gryzlov has been appointed as Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Sergey Shishkarev became the President of the Fund. One of the first projects was establishing of the Brazilian Football School in Russia.
The main purpose of this initiative is to enable promising young football players to receive valuable experience from the training techniques of Brazilian experts. Young athletes from different regions of Russia attend the School, where apart from football classes they receive the regular school education with a focus on foreign languages. Currently, there are 47 young football players participating in this project.
Commenting on this project, CEO Golden Telecom, Mr. Jean-Pierre Vandromme noted: “We are glad that Golden Telecom can take part in this great developmental program for young sportsmen and help them to pursue their dreams of a career in professional football while still gaining a solid education. Football is the most popular sport in Russia. Supporting this program "Brazilian Football School in Russia" and enabling a new team of professionals is a worthwhile objective for Golden Telecom and we hope that our support and efforts will help to develop this game”. The Founder of Brazilian Football School in Russia and President of the Fund, Sergey Shishkarev said: “The project is unique. We have shown that the Brazilian Football School in Russia has great promise. It has important not only sports, but also cultural value. I hope, that boys who will soon go to Brazil already for the second time, become new national heroes in the future. And they will allow the Russian team to compete in some years with Brazilians for the World Football Cup. Becoming the General Partner of the program Golden Telecom brings the significant contribution to the further development of junior sports in our country”.
