Israel cancels fixed wireless broadband auction
The Israeli government has canceled its planned auction of fixed wireless broadband spectrum after a political fight over its rules emerged. Israel's Ministry of Finance axed the bill that called for an auction between October 2007 and March 2008. The move stemmed from a number of actions, including a controversial stipulation that no cellular company with greater than 25 percent of the country's market share would be allowed to bid for the spectrum. That potentially eliminated the country's three largest mobile operators.
