Hundreds Of VSATs In New Gilat Satellite Deal

Several hundred additional VSATs from Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. will be deployed to JSC Kazakhtelecom (KT) for their existing broadband satellite network. With this latest deployment, KT will operate four Gilat satellite hubs and more than 1,600 Gilat VSATs.

The multi–service SkyEdge Pro VSAT has been selected from Gilat’s product line by KT. Offering advanced enterprise data network, telephony services, these units also enable mesh (VSAT–to–VSAT) as well as star (spoke–and–hub) topologies. Added flexibility is given to the service provider as the various services are based on modular expansion cards.

KT will also provide network connectivity with telephony and broadband Internet services to remote communities throughout Kazakhstan. This is part of a Universal Service Obligation (USO). The SkyEdge Pro’s toll–quality telephony, low–power options and very high MTBF, all integrated with the aforementioned mesh services, improves voice quality as well as reduction of space–segment expenses.
