Nortel delays auction of GSM/GSM-R business

The networking-equipment company, which filed for bankruptcy protection in January and has been selling assets through the year, said it delayed this auction because the auction of its Metro Ethernet division had already been delayed to Friday from Nov. 13.
The company said it is "continuing in discussions with interested parties" with respect to the GSM/GSM-R unit and will provide an update next week.
As reported, Nortel is scheduled to auction its Metro Ethernet division Friday. Ciena Corp. has made a stalking-horse bid for this business valued at $514.2 million, consisting of $390 million plus 10 million Ciena shares.
