Nokia, New Alliance in Chinese mobile service venture

10 декабря 2009

Finnish mobile phone giant Nokia Corp. said Wednesday it will form a joint venture with New Alliance to offer mobile services in China.

New Alliance is part of Chinese investment and financial services provider Shanghai Alliance Investment Ltd.

The 50-50 joint venture, Nokia Alliance Internet Services Company Ltd., will launch in January and involve around 80 people.

"As Nokia is entering the services business in China, establishing this joint venture is a natural step to help us bring locally relevant mobile services to Chinese consumers," said Niklas Savander, Nokia Executive Vice President of Services.

"Joining forces with New Alliance gives us the right platform and expertise to offer a suite of selected Nokia Ovi services--as well as work with local content developers to help bring their applications to market," he added.

Ovi is Nokia's platform for Internet-based services.
