Synchronica shares rise on Russia mobile deal

12 сентября 2008

Russia's MTS signs deal with U.K. firm for mobile email services; second larger order likely to follow.

Shares in Synchronica PLC, the U.K. mobile phone services firm, advanced Thursday after it was picked by the largest mobile operator in Russia to provide email services to its 84 million customers.

Tunbridge Wells, England-based Synchronica said the $730,000 order from
Russia's Mobile TeleSystems OJSC will involve the provision of mobile email services to MTS subscribers in Moscow.

Synchronica said it's expecting a second, larger order before the end of the financial year for the second phase - rolling out the service across
Russia and neighbouring states.

The firm didn't disclose how much it expects the second order to be for, but FinnCap analyst Paul Cornelius said the deal should deliver revenue of $2 million to Synchronica.

At 0804 GMT, shares in Synchronica rose 0.5 pence or 16% to 3.63 pence, outperforming a flat Alternative Investment Market.

Synchronica acquired MTS as a customer when it acquired
Israel's Axis Mobile Ltd. in August.
