Ericsson tops ABI's latest vendor rankings

02 марта 2009

Ericsson has topped the latest network vendor rankings by ABI Research, scoring high marks for its dominance in managed services and for its global reach.

Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia Siemens Networks were second and third, respectively, in ABI's latest Vendor Matrix, which it released Thursday. The research firm said Sweden's Ericsson was the overall market leader based company's overall managed services revenues, global networks managed and the amount of resources it dedicated to managed services. Alcatel-Lucent led in innovation for its non-traditional services across a wide array of industries, including for public safety, governments and electric grid operators.

ABI said Ericsson led in network-related managed services with a 35 percent market share, followed by Alcatel-Lucent with 23 percent and Nokia Siemens Network with 22 percent.

The vendor market has been shaken up recently. Alcatel-Lucent and Ericsson won the coveted right to be the primary vendors for the radio access network part of Verizon Wireless' Long Term Evolution (LTE) network. Alcatel-Lucent and Nokia Siemens scored the right to be the vendors for the IMS portion of Verizon's LTE plans and the enhanced packet core for the network will be provided by Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson and Starent Networks. Meanwhile, Nortel Networks continues to cut jobs and costs as it wades through bankruptcy.
