Vodafone wins Oracle managed services deal

09 февраля 2010

Vodafone on Monday announced it has won a contract to supply managed mobile services to Oracle.

The four-year deal will see the operator's Global Enterprise division provide mobile voice and data services to 16,000 Oracle employees across its Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

"As well as our revolutionary per user pricing model, Oracle will benefit from the tools and consultancy that we offer to improve efficiency in both their fixed and mobile communications," commented Nick Jeffery, CEO of Vodafone Global Enterprise, in a statement.

Vodafone said it will bill the enterprise software giant on a fixed-fee, per-user basis, effectively giving Oracle employees unlimited access to mobile services on their work handsets, while enabling managers to accurately predict expenditure.

"Oracle has been impressed by Vodafone Global Enterprise's straight forward and transparent approach to pricing communications, and we anticipate this will deliver greater cost efficiencies," said Carol Kelly, vice president of Global Revenue and Procurement Operations at Oracle.

"As well as greater convenience, we expect that this partnership will deliver enhanced services to our employees," she said.

Vodafone's Global Enterprise arm provides managed mobile services to its largest corporate clients. As well as Oracle, its customers include outdoor advertising giant JCDecaux and home appliance manufacturer Whirlpool.

Vodafone last week raised its free cash flow target after its third quarter revenue grew 10.3% to £11.55 billion, up from £10.47 billion a year ago.

The company saw slowing service revenue declines across its European footprint on improving trends at its U.K., German and Spanish operations.
