Cisco to phase out Scientific Atlanta brand
By the end of 2007, the Scientific Atlanta brand will be just a memory. Cisco announced late yesterday that it would rebrand all products currently using the Scientific Atlanta brand as Cisco products. The process is expected to take nine to 12 months. The company has yet to decide whether SA will continue to operate as a Cisco subsidiary, or whether it will merge operations with Cisco's service provider unit. Last February, Cisco completed is $6.9 billion acquisition of the television equipment provider.
