Microsoft, News Corp among potential Yahoo bidders

Microsoft Corp. and News Corp. are among those considering a bid for all or parts of Yahoo Inc.

The New York Times said a number of private equity and strategic players are contacting Yahoo and holding meetings with other potential suitors to determine what groupings could make sense. Several media or Internet companies, including Google Inc., Facebook, Comcast Corp. and Microsoft, could be strategic partners in a Yahoo deal, the Times said

News Corp. recently emerged as one of the most proactive suitors for Yahoo, and has contacted Yahoo and several financial firms, the Times reported, citing three people with knowledge of the situation.

A Yahoo spokesman said,"We do not comment on rumors or speculation." Microsoft and News Corp. representatives were not immediately available for comment to Dow Jones Newswires. News Corp. is the parent company of Dow Jones & Co., publisher of this newswire, and owner of the Wall Street Journal.
