Five Applicants Approved for Belgium's 4G License Auction

Belgium's telecoms regulator, BIPT has announced that five applications for its forthcoming 4G license auction have been approved and named the applications.

Amongst other things it was verified whether the applications contained the requested data and documents and whether the deposit for participation had been made.

Five operators have responded to the call for candidates launched by Bipt on 1 June 2011 to
participate in the auction of licences in the 2.6 GHz-band (4G licences).

The auction will start on Monday, 28 November 2011. The acquired user rights are valid for 15 years starting from 1 July 2012.

The 5 participants are (in alphabetical order):

  • Belgacom
  • BUCD bvba
  • Craig Wireless Belgium.
  • KPN group Belgium
  • Mobistar
